Otterbox defender with iOS 7 control center, no go

I have a otter box defender on my iPhone 5. I have found 1 more reason that the case sucks.

The plastic screen cover does not allow you to activate control center in iOS 7. I thought maybe my install did not go properly but when I take the case off it works exactly as it should.

Add that to the fact that the case gets infiltrated with dust and debris, plastic cover gets all marked from underneath and wrecks clarity and that debris in case scratches phone.

The Defender is a crappy case that I would not recommend.

I don't have one, but how about one of these instead:

My next case will most likely be a waterproof one. There are many times I have the otter box in a zip lock bag just because it allows so much junk into the case. If you do anything dirty or physical outdoors forget the defender.

We have a lifeproof fee on my daughters phone. It seems to be fine. She is on the high school swim team so she is constantly around water. Even the locker rooms are high humidity so we wanted something to keep the phone dry in case of accidental water exposure.

I will probably try the new life proof nuud, but dang $90 for a piece of plastic.

I agree 100%. Had one on my iPhone 4, and all the debris underneath scratched the heck out of it. I've had it off for well over a year and have gotten less scratches on it "nude" than with the Defender.

Rip the screen protector off. Thats what I did, when I got my Otterbox defender. Replaced the screen with a "tempered glass". Works like original and sealed all around.

Goose,

I have the same issue with the TakTik case from Lunatik. However, unlike the Otterbox, the TakTik case is incredible. Worth every penny for the base model with Gorilla glass. The few scratches and such on my phone are the result of using it with a Griffin Survivor for over a year. It hasn't sustained any new scratches since I switched cases.

've done without Control Center all this time, so I can't say I miss it. But, I don't blame this problem on the manufacturer of the cases. I blame Apple. The issue is that Apple made the activation for Control Center _too_ close to the bottom edge. So, Apple needs to increase the activation area.

It's the exact opposite of a problem I have with the activation area of Spotlight. Apple made that area too large. I activated accidentally all too often and it's very annoying. I'm hoping Apple reduces the size of the activation area of Spotlight and increases the size of the activation area for Control Center.

That would solve both problems easily.

I don't understand the question.

The LifeProof case, used normally, allows iOS 7 and Control Center to work normally.

OTDL, in addition to the fre˜, LifeProof has a new case, the "nüüd" which doesn't use any screen protection at all (yet is still waterproof). s-t was just asking which of the two cases you use.

One of many decay. They are all very similar, some have special coatings.

On the nuud, the only part of the entire phone that isn't covered is the screen itself. So they only have to seal around the screen. Someone else (sekker?) expressed concern about reliability of that seal and I agree but it must work or the reviews would flag it as a problem.

Gotcha.

The 'Free' was what I was referring to.
