Looking for some lyric free, quality music to play behind a a slideshow where the main audio is snippets from interviews. I did poke around garage band, and it's mostly loops. If not music in the public domain, is a there an online source for inexpensive tracks?

It would be nice if someone would create an "iStockPhoto" for background music, but right now, I do not know of one. Does anyone else?

Well, it really depends on what you mean by "inexpensive". If your project is a personal or educational project (i.e. not something that you have been paid for) or something that will be aired on TV, you might want to look here:

There are tons of different styles to choose from and if your project will be aired on television or is a personal or educational project, all tracks are free to use. If your project is of a commercial nature and not going to be aired on TV, make sure you read the Terms and Conditions and look at the Rate Card to determine how much it will cost. It can get expensive real quick for even just 1 track.

You might also want to look here:

Their BackTraxx Music Library is a 28 CD collection of royalty free music with several different lengths of each track for you to choose from. For $399, this is a great deal if you will need a lot of tracks to use over and over in the future. You might also want to look at their StackTraxx Layered Music collections. I personally have several of these and they are great. Each collection has a certain theme and each track is customizable. With the tracks being "layered", you can use their software to turn off/on each individual instrument to create your own personal sound. You do not get as many tracks as you do in the BackTraxx collection, but if you catch them as each collection is introduced, they are typically $69 (instead of the $249) for a brief period of time. I know that as soon as their upcoming Spooky Stacks and Light Touch collections are introduced, I will be buying them.

I also just found this:

I do not know anything about this site but it appears that individual background tracks are $54.95 each. Just something else to look at.

You could also check out the Creative Commons website. Based upon your usage, there is probably something there that you can use.
