Something Big In January from Apple.

I heard from the father in law from one of the workers at Apple that something big is happening in January. His daughter and son-in-law usually come home for Christmas but Apple wouldn't allow ANY of them to take time off before MacWorld.

What could it be? He wouldn't say because he didn't know. He did tell me which dept. he works for.

The Honey Crisp is a BIG apple, IMO. Too big for my slicer.

I have to say that I agree. However last night my wife and I shared a Honey Crisp apple and it was our first crappy one. It was ok, but didn't taste that great either.

1. Might be normal for Apple.

2. iTV

3. New version of OS X

4. Mac Mega (mini with 3.5" HD, slot).

5. New iPod with 4" screen.

When I get a bad Honey Crisp, I wonder if it's 'fake' or mislabeled.

That, too.

"The publication also disclosed that CEO Steve Jobs has hired his own outside counsel separate from the company's legal team."

I'm getting so fed up with the fat cats, corruption, golden parachutes, back dating options....etc. etc.

The article I read says there is a worry that Jobs might be forced to leave over the options thing and that is affecting the stock.

Possibly, but I kind of doubt it.

2. iTV
That might be nice. A TV tuner card that will fit current PCI slots (unlike the old 6320-era card which used a unique slot) wouldn't be bad. The PC folk sure seem wowed that they can watch TV on their computers...something we Mac folk could do ten years ago.

3. New version of OS X
A big yawn for me personally, but much excitement for more up-to-date folks.

4. Mac Mega (mini with 3.5" HD, slot).
This is what I'm really hoping for. Take a Mini, add the aforementioned 3.5" HD and a PCI slot, double the number of firewire and USB ports, and double the RAM slots. Yes, it would be bigger than a Mini, but all that stuff could still fit inside a case the size of a IIsi which is quite a tidy little package.
In fact, I seem to remember someone suggesting exactly this product back when the Mini was first introduced, although they referred to it as a Mac "Midi" because it would fall between the Mini and the towers in price and expandability.

5. New iPod with 4" screen.
Again, very nice, but I think of iPods as "summer" things...perhaps because I see so many people listening to them while on vacation.

Indeed. We shall see what we shall see.
