Where do I go online to find out which city is the hottest (weather-wise) in a certain region? Googling hasn't yielded anything relevant yet.

It's supposed to be 100+ here in the far southwest corner tomorrow through Monday. It's WAY too early for this nonsense to begin. The ocean temp is still in the low 60ºs…

101° here today, try Death Valley.

A co-worker keeps lamenting that Monrovia is always considered to be the hottest and smoggiest city in So. Ca and I am trying to disprove it with facts. From personal experience, I think it's Pomona, CA.

It consistently ranks number one for highest maximum temperature, warmest annual mean temperature and most days in the year above 89 °F. Other cities with hotter than average weather are also located in Arizona, as well as California, Texas, Florida and Nevada.

If Los Angeles, CA has reached 112, then Monrovia (our city) must have gone beyond that. The former always has cooler temperature than the latter. And according to my co-worker, who I believe is misinformed, Monrovia has been consistently warmer

I'm not sure those stats are right. Thy list the highest temp for Austin at 112. I moved to Austin August 1, 2000 and it was 117 that day. And I moved into a 3rd floor apartment in that heat. I won't forget that.

Anyone who has been to Disney in the middle of the summer would likely agree with me that Orlando is the hottest place this side of hell.

We've been relatively cool here by the ocean in Dana Point.

It stayed around 75° yesterday.

It's not the heat, it's the humidity. I've lived in Orlando for 14 years, and the hottest it's gotten here is 98. And that was back when we were in a severe drought. The humidity prevents the temperature from going too high.

BTW, I've been in New Orleans in the summer, and it made Orlando feel comfortable in comparison.

Dana Point is a nice place. I like going down there. My investment advisor has his office there. You ever notice that people in the investment field do rather well?" Where Are the Customer's Yachts?" heh heh

Sacramento gets pretty hot but without looking I think might be Fresno hotter and more humid.

City-Data.com has a huge amount of data, census, weather, crime statistics. You can quickly go to a city by typing the name of the city in the URL. It looks like Pomona is hotter than Monrovia also.

Intellicast.com and weather.com also have a lot of data. I also use the NOAA "ROMAN" (Real-time Observation Monitor and Analysis Network) to look at real time current temps for a region. This is the page for SoCal, click on a small red cross and then click on 24 Hour Conditions in the right sidebar for data trends. The stations that list dewpoint and wind direction are usually the most complete.

The hottest city is the city that ain't used to the heat. The vast majority of people do not have air conditioners in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley. L.A. basin too for that matter. 67 degrees in August is about right.

According to your charge, Los Angeles is much cooler than Pasadena, which is a neighboring city to our Monrovia ... 8 miles away.
