A nation of whiners.

This proves Gramm was right. All the whining about being called whiners cost him his campaign job.

I feel we probably have became a nation of a lot of whiners but not are the reasons he stated.

"We have sort of become a nation of whiners. You just hear this constant whining,
complaining about a loss of competitiveness, America in decline," said Phil Gramm

I seriously don't think our economic problems are just in our heads, he's another out of
touch rich recession-proof politician. The price of energy, food, education and durable
goods doesn't affect people like this.

Could you show me a quote? I'm not being sarcastic, seriously I'd be interested in reading
it. I've haven't totally made up my mind yet.

Sorry, it was McCain who said it (scary how easy it is to blur the two together)-

Quote:
McCain responded that day to the comments saying during a campaign stop: "I believe that the person here in Michigan who just lost his job isn't suffering from a mental recession. I believe the mother here in Michigan or around America who's trying to get enough money to educate their children isn't whining."

From Obama's campaign:

"One of Senator McCain's top economic advisors may think that when people are struggling with lost jobs, stagnant wages, and the rising costs of everything from gas to groceries, it's merely a 'mental recession'. And Senator McCain may think it's sufficient to offer energy proposals that he admits will have mainly 'psychological' benefits. But the American people know that our economic problems aren't just in their heads. They don't need psychological relief - they need real relief - and that's what Barack Obama will provide as President," said Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton.

Notice how all the candidates and staff will KNOW the price per gallon of MILK this time,
unlike the debate / set-up question (and intense camera work) that did Bush 41 in, the instant he fumbled and they cut to that shot of Clinton appearing to have pity on the "poor, out of touch old man."

I'd still be pissed about that, had 41 & 42 not become, at the advice of 37, such good friends.

Don't forget children, 37 was consultant to them all, except 39, until he died April 1994.

Phil Gramm is partly to blame for all this mess.

You are being generous Dennis

He stuffed a nearly 300 page bank deregulation rider that nobody but the lobbyist that ordered it understood
on a must pass omnibus spending bill that effectively undid regulation that had been put in place after the depression
to prevent what has now happened from happening.

Of course UBS (the bank he lobbied for) has been one of the hardest hit in the sub prime mortgage market.
You would almost laugh at the irony except I'm sure Gramm is lobbying a for a bail out right now
and getting paid well for doing it. McCain's "No Lobbyist" pledge is a joke

Who's he going to have advising him next - Chuck Keating ?

Everybody whines. The right whines about the left. The left whines about the right. Phil Gramm whines about the whiners.
