What do you think about him? is he neutral, or he leans to one side, and if so, which one?

He's CNN's answer to talk radio. A red state redneck.

"Yes, Billy, it's true. The United States wasn't always a fascist dictatorship. Actually, the proper term is oligarchy, but I won't bore you with all that stuff now. Anyway, there was a time when the people in office actually cared, some more than others, about the ideals that made it a good place to live. And, no, there was no invasion. Our people just gave it all away, a little at a time, by always voting for politicians who promised to make the country a safe place for children and kittens. It's safe now, Billy...just as long as you do exactly as you're told."

He leans pretty right, but he's intolerant and ill-tempered at everything so sometimes it's hard to tell.

Lou Dobbs lives in a very red county (Sussex) in a very blue state (New Jersey). For the record, he is a registered independent and is not registered with either political party.

I would say he is a populist with somewhat of a conservative inclination if you consider a wide scope of issues - and, I'd say, usually fairly conservative about economic issues. On a few particular issues his populist nature seems to lead him to what may be considered a more progressive view. He is not a journalist (I'd be surprised if he claimed to be one), he is an advocate - especially for stopping illegal immigration. As a lot of the television and radio political talk people tend to do, he often speaks in an authoritative manner about stuff he doesn't actually understand very well.

I thought he used to hav a decent show on financial matters until he went off the deep end into his political rants on immigration and the like. I'd love to know if he planned that or it was a chemical imbalance.

He's Mary Tyler Moore's boss on her old TV show - what's to know?

There was Lou, Ted, Murray (the Love Boat captain), and a few others. Great show! What's
the beef with Lou? He's supposed to be grouchy. He got even more grouchy when he
got his own show.
