SSU Spring Lesson #13: Devaluing the Dollar

"... Jude Wanniski takes apart a late 2004 New York Times oped by Stephen Roach, chief economist of Morgan Stanley. A dyed in the wool demand-sider, Roach argued the virtues of a weakening dollar in order to correct our current account deficit and global trade imbalances. Jude dissects every argument of Roach's and shows us just how different the demand-side and supply-side schools are. And for that matter, just how dangerous demand-side macro theory can be.]"

I wasn't aware that economics was political, but as you wish Jimbo-C-BigGuy'N'Rusty. You do realize that I shortened my nick to help you stalk me, don't you?
:-)

Since you insisted it be transfered here, however, I can now comment:

Baron de Rothschild said something like "I care not who holds governmental office - give me control of the economy and I will rule." And that perfectly describes the ascendancy of government by corporations, as we experience it today in the U.S. of A. Mussolini described fascism as government by corporations so it's perfectly logical to call the U.S. a fascist state. Our foreign policy, including the theft of Iraq's oil and the murder of hundreds of thousands of its citizens, is in response to corporations' primary responsibility - to return profit to their stockholders. Hence, Halliburton's no-bid contracts while continuing to keep Mr. Cheney on the payroll. His stock in Halliburton will no doubt provide him a comfortable retirement and a handsome legacy for his family.

Hitler paraphrased,

Give me control of your children and I will rule.

My mistake. i thought I read a post where BGnR claimed to be Jimbo. Can't find it now, though. Maybe there is a such a thing as too much organic red wine.
