"What friends call 'grumpy McCain' is showing up regularly on the campaign trail, and several top advisers worry that it’s hurting his campaign by making him appear peevish and hunkered down when the country is looking for a larger and more optimistic brand of leadership."

And I have to say the news clips of McCain tearing at Obama that aired yesterday really made McCain look old. He was wearing a button-down shirt and a blazer so shapeless, it might as well have been a cardigan sweater, completing the classic "grumpy old man" outfit. I think the grunts he uttered to underscore each point were the icing on the cake.

Christian values? I think I'm gonna have to pass.

"Our national leaders, are sending soldiers out on a task that is from God. That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."
--Sarah Palin, on the Iraq war

In Fla., Palin Goes for the Rough Stuff as Audience Boos Obama

By Dana Milbank
CLEARWATER, Fla. -- "Okay, so Florida, you know that you're going to have to hang onto your hats," Sarah Palin told a rally of a few thousand here this morning, "because from now until Election Day it may get kind of rough."

You betcha. And the person dishing out the roughest stuff at the moment is Sarah Palin.

"I was reading my copy of the New York Times the other day," she said.

"Booooo!" replied the crowd.

"I knew you guys would react that way, okay," she continued. "So I was reading the New York Times and I was really interested to read about Barack's friends from Chicago."

It was time to revive the allegation, made over the weekend, that Obama "pals around" with terrorists, in this case Bill Ayers, late of the Weather Underground. Many independent observers say Palin's allegations are a stretch; Obama served on a Chicago charitable board with Ayers, now an education professor, and has condemned his past activities.

"Now it turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers," Palin said.

"Boooo!" said the crowd.

"And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,'" she continued.

"Boooo!" the crowd repeated.

"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.

Palin went on to say that "Obama held one of the first meetings of his political career in Bill Ayers's living room, and they've worked together on various projects in Chicago." Here, Palin began to connect the dots. "These are the same guys who think that patriotism is paying higher taxes -- remember that's what Joe Biden had said. "And" -- she paused and sighed -- "I am just so fearful that this is not a man who sees America the way you and I see America, as the greatest force for good in the world. I'm afraid this is someone who sees America as 'imperfect enough' to work with a former domestic terrorist who had targeted his own country."

"Boooo!" said the audience.

according to the folks at politico.com, seems like mcsame has been a member of a very questionable right-wing terrorist group. here are the first couple of paragraphs:

"Since the mid-1980s, there’s been almost no attention paid to John McCain’s long-ago association with a controversial group implicated in a secretive plot to supply arms to Nicaraguan militia groups during the Iran-Contra affair.

But now, with the Republican presidential candidate stepping up his negative blitz against Democratic opponent Barack Obama, some Democrats are hoping that the group — the U.S. Council for World Freedom, and its founder, John Singlaub — will become for McCain what Bill Ayers has become for Obama: a fleeting past association used as ammunition for political broadside."

Another piece in the puzzle. Berenadette Dorn was a co-worker of Michelle Obama's at the Law Practice of Sidney & Austin in Chicago when Michelle and Obama met. You can't say they didn't know each other and that Ayres and Obama lives have not intermingled since the 80's.

In this video, along with old film clips of Weather Underground activities is a man named John Murtach, whose house was attacked by the WU in NY with three bombs. And watch Berenadette Dorn grin as she talks about her radical actions with the WU. She's so proud of being a domestic terrorist in action in the name of black radicals like the SDS.

Militant black radicals, terrorists and crooks are the friends of Obama. I'm still looking for someone to point out any of his friends, advisors or mentors who are not of this ilk.

The preview trailers, of course, work very hard to tie it all together. I would expect a large showing by a fictional McCain.

And let's talk lies:

"Stone said while he supports Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic nominee in the presidential race, his personal politics didn't influence the film."

Riiiiight. And the timing of the release is just coincidental, timed to get that key two weeks before Halloween demographic.

Quote
Article
CBS News has learned that two donors to the Obama campaign that gave a total of $7,722 appear to have made their contributions under fake names that look like they were written by a mouse running across a keyboard: Dahsudhu Hdusahfd of Df, Hawaii with the following employer CZXVC/ZXVZXV and Uadhshgu Hduadh listed as living in Dhff, Florida listed their employer as DASADA/SAFASF.

Quote
Article
Felicity Nitz, 60, of Brooklyn says she kept on clicking on Obama’s online fundraising appeals, “I just kept punching it when I got the emails,” she said, “I’m an insane supporter.”

Giving money to millionaires so they can achieve the highest office in the land is insane. I have a "no donations" policy for politicians. They'll get my money one way or another. I'm not just giving it to them.

I've come close this cycle though. Every time McCain or Palin say that Obama is going to raise my taxes, I think about giving to Obama's campaign.

Now, here is the part that all the die-hard Obama-hater's will gloss over (assuming they even made it past the first paragraph):

Quote
Article
Other donors who gave over the legal limit to the Obama campaign contacted by CBS News said their money was refunded promptly by the campaign.

If you had the opportunity to ask one question of each of the presidential candidates...and they had to give you a direct answer which they could not weasel out of, what would it be? If they tried to pull a Palin on you, you get to hammer them and ask it again until they answer to your satisfaction. And what the hell, let's try to keep this serious.

I'll start.

To John McCain: If the basis of your campaign is to cut the pork, "name names and make the authors famous" for adding on waste, how could you possibly sign that pork-laden bailout bill and why didn't you tell the country who added all that crap to the bill?

To Barack Obama: Why won't you just renounce Reverend Wright and Black Liberation Theology or if you still agree with it, explain it well enough so that we can all accept it as well, and the whole matter can be put to rest once and for all?

I must point out that this is "paid for by Obama for America"

The current economic crisis demands that we understand John McCain's attitudes about economic oversight and corporate influence in federal regulation. Nothing illustrates the danger of his approach more clearly than his central role in the savings and loan scandal of the late '80s and early '90s.

John McCain was accused of improperly aiding his political patron, Charles Keating, chairman of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association. The bipartisan Senate Ethics Committee launched investigations and formally reprimanded Senator McCain for his role in the scandal -- the first such Senator to receive a major party nomination for president.

At the heart of the scandal was Keating's Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which took advantage of deregulation in the 1980s to make risky investments with its depositors' money. McCain intervened on behalf of Charles Keating with federal regulators tasked with preventing banking fraud, and championed legislation to delay regulation of the savings and loan industry -- actions that allowed Keating to continue his fraud at an incredible cost to taxpayers.

When the savings and loan industry collapsed, Keating's failed company put taxpayers on the hook for $3.4 billion and more than 20,000 Americans lost their savings. John McCain was reprimanded by the bipartisan Senate Ethics Committee, but the ultimate cost of the crisis to American taxpayers reached more than $120 billion.

The Keating scandal is eerily similar to today's credit crisis, where a lack of regulation and cozy relationships between the financial industry and Congress has allowed banks to make risky loans and profit by bending the rules. And in both cases, John McCain's judgment and values have placed him on the wrong side of history.
