Dec 15 tariffs: will price of Mac phones and computers go up? - 11 days ago

As we may remember, trump delayed tariffs on a lot of consumer goods until dec 15 to not put a damper on christmas spending. I believe that laptops and phones were among them. Assuming not another delay, should someone buy now or wait till next year and get hit by the tariffs? Thinking of an aside apart from discounted product. Also to be noted that under rules for submitting movies for Oscar consideration, a movie needs to run for week in New York and Los Angeles. Netflix now has a theater in ny that insures that. And with little fanfare

Lucas had a lot of practice with short Star Wars shows with the overall excellent Clone Wars series. You can complain about the cgi being a little clunky but the plots and storytelling worked imho.

I’ll add that some people because of skin conditions, dryness, etc. have a hard time getting a touchscreen to work.

I agree. Been to Japan. In my experience the hinge continues to work even if it’s tension gets a little weaker.

I have an earlier version of this phone and it was super rugged. It even works submerged in glass of water. Maybe you can find it compatible with her carrier.

Not quite what you mean by break. I have latest iOS and it works fine. It has never as sophisticated as a normal wireless router (ie: multiple channels etc). A lot things about a hotspot are controlled your cell provider including whether the option is even offered. My provider cricket makes it a $10 month option. And the option is grayed out unless you activate it.

You might try calling a local print shop or embodiery shop. Floppies are still being used in that business. Maybe they will read it for you. Any idea if they are pc or Mac format?

I recently repurposed an old android tablet with a free time of day app. It now reads out continuously (plugged into wall) 10:30 am, mid morning, Wednesday, October 17 or similar. It helps my mom to relate to what time of day it is. I was looking into $49 digital clocks on anazon that do the same thing but was happy to find a free app. Hope this helps someone.

Three weeks with Series 5 cellular watch - 8 weeks ago

Wanted to report that I enjoy using the watch. But I suspect not as much as Apple would like me to. I am getting about 28 hours battery life with moderate physical activity. I don’t have a cell contract to use with it, so no way for me to test the cell capabilities but plan to setup the energency sos capabilities. A 2tb upgrade runs $450 at owc. The 2015 MacBook Pro is the last version that has an upgradable ssd. Need to think about this.

My job requires apps and plugins (graphics and video editing) and these always require the latest Mac Osx. It feels like my current osx 10.13 maybe the last one for my early 2012 retina MacBook Pro 15. I was going to spend money to upgrade the ssd from 768gb to 2tb and maybe I should just save the money for a new(er) machine. Thoughts?

I’ll give it a try. As my usual lettuce wrap. It’s sloppier to eat that way but healthier sans bun. I’ve had them before at other places and always chuckle a bit at the fat and calorie content which are high on par with a beef burger. Can’t get that meaty taste without it apparently.

Not ideal but you could use a 2.5 to 3.5 drive metal bracket and then put it into a 3.5 enclosure. Couldn’t tell from post if adapter was this.

Thanks. The edge router looks interesting. And as much as I really like my AirPort Extreme 3rd gen but it maybe time to move on. And completely ditch it in favor of a dd wrt router with the open source software. That software includes the monitoring functions I am interested in.

Silly question but I've cleared a few clogs by using a toilet plunger to force air down a shower drain. Good way to get some exercise and it makes a satisfying whomp whimper sound. Even if it doesn't work.

Home Depot rental dept is your friend for things like that. Or harbor freight. The caveat is that an oversized tool (lol) could damage or break the pipes and then that is real trouble.

Maybe use some food coloring into the shower drain to help troubleshoot? See if color shows up in toilet bowl?
