So far I have found apps to be easier. When looking up drugs a website is filled with advertisements with only 30% (or so) of the actual page being about the drug. So it's hard to mentally filter it all out. With an app there are usually no advertisements if you get a good one. I also have an app to manage my prescriptions and it is very easy to use. The website is incredibly convoluted and coby davemchine - Tips and Deals
In this case the person has a facebook page that allows private messages to be sent. It will be interesting to see if I get a response from a semi-celebrity person. No famous enough to be wearing custom clothing but perhaps famous enough to shop at stores I can't afford. It's all too funny. I'll post back if I get a response.by davemchine - Tips and Deals
I buy most of my wife's clothing and I put a lot of effort into it. I will sometimes see an outfit I think my wife will like and ask the person where they bought it. This worked marvelously for me last christmas as we prepared for a party and my wife said, "I sure wish I had such and such clothing" and I was able to pick a box from under the tree as an early present. I also will occaby davemchine - Tips and Deals
Ah, I didn't know that. I wonder if it could be done with some kind of extension such as the Amazon wish list extension for safari.by davemchine - Tips and Deals
I use IMDB all the time. I wish there was a button to add a movie to my Netflix queue right from IMDB. That would be awesome.by davemchine - Tips and Deals
I looked into battery powered lawn mowers awhile back with the assistance of the forum. I found several good models but weight was often an issue. The less expensive mowers use heavy batteries and have no self propulsion. So buying a good quality, lightweight, mower can be expensive.by davemchine - Tips and Deals
kj4btkljv, I think there's still an empty couch in the condo so get a ticket and meet us over there. :-) Kauai is my home away from home. I can't wait to get back there.by davemchine - Tips and Deals
Thank you for all of the good advice. I've asked the girls parents to fill out the form provided by the AAA website. I am also going to have them get a picture ID.by davemchine - Tips and Deals
That title sounds creepy but it's not. Our daughter has invited a school friend to vacation with us in Kauai next month. She is thirteen. Will we need any special documentation from the parents in order for her to travel with us? What about picture ID? I'm not sure if she has any. I'm having a mini heart attack realizing I didn't think to ask these questions earlier. Also, I'm sure many of youby davemchine - Tips and Deals
I'm not seeing coverage via OTA channels right now. Any way to watch via appletv?by davemchine - Tips and Deals
I'm not trying to be inflammatory (I never believe people when they say that) but it seems like Apple has so many cool apps for IOS and not all of them come to OSX. So something as simple as Find My Friends requires me to use my phone even though I have my laptop...in my lap. There are so many things that simple don't work correctly in OSX, and people have been vocal about it, but all we seem toby davemchine - Tips and Deals

I've had similar experiences so I know how frustrating it can be. I saw Steve Tyrel (yes, totally different music) in Yakima and while Steve was good the sound system was terrible. Distortion that distracted from the music and really limited what he could do. Then I saw him in Seattle at a better venue and it was incredible. So hold out hope for a better experience in the future.by davemchine - Tips and Deals
One of our forum members introduced me to the Friendship Force Club. Not formally but in the course of a casual conversation. It seems participants host people from other countries, show them the local sights, and in exchange get to do the same themselves when they travel. Has anyone here participated in this or a similar program? For someone like me it seems quite daring to invite a stranger intby davemchine - Tips and Deals
This morning I was wondering why Apple has chosen not to allow ios to read our emails to us. Since it can be done via a workaround it must be a choice but I can't think of why. Any thoughts? Any easier solution than the old workaround?by davemchine - Tips and Deals

I am a stay-at-home-dad so I have time to do these things. I know not everyone does. By the end of summer they will be sick of me and ready to go back to school. :-)by davemchine - Tips and Deals
We took advantage of the local Allied Arts programs. Lots of art classes that lasted either a day or a week. Our kids school also participated in some fun sports/arts activities during the summer. We tried signing up for athletic camps but our kids are more of the artistic type but maybe yours like athletics. We bought a sailboat and spend as much time on it as possible. Not just enjoyaby davemchine - Tips and Deals
When I moved out of my parents house I was given the name and phone number of an "uncle" I did not know. Several months later I needed assistance with my car, no money, and I used the number. Over the next few years we spent a lot of time together.by davemchine - Tips and Deals
guitarist, I am also into pocketknives although not to the extent you are. There is an excellent forum for reading about pocketknives at . My personal favorite is Spyderco which has their own forum at . I like the Centofante as it has good build quality, nice size for opening packages or carrying for protection, and the price isn't bad at $56. has some video's on their website which compare the performance of different flashlights at different distances. You might try watching one of these video's to get an idea of how to rate the lights you have. I would also suggest you spend time at where you can learn a lot about flashlights. By reading that website I've been able to discern exactly what kind of light I need for different jobsby davemchine - Tips and Deals
One thing I should have made crystal clear is that I believe the problem is 100% on my end. Larry has been extremely helpful both in this thread and through the offer of talking with a technician. The ministack is a great product. After trying multiple solutions I believe that the drobo's might not be playing nice on the firewire chain. So I purchased the apple thunderbolt to firewire adapterby davemchine - Tips and Deals
I drive very little on a given day. An electric car would work very well for me. I don't find the Tesla to be a very "sexy" car though. If I'm going to put out more than $30k it needs to be sexy. I do need to drive to Seattle occasionally, which is 240 miles round trip, so I would probably need the 85kw version at $72k. So what I need is about double the price I'm willing to pay pluby davemchine - Tips and Deals
I received lots of good advice last night. JDC suggested super duper, Black suggested a direct connection and Larry suggested a clean install of osx and a migration. Since it was already late, and I wanted to go to bed, I opted for the super duper option. Everything seems to work with the exception of itunes which is continuously importing it's library xml file. So the initial copy reported as successful but nothing worked. Booted back to the hard drive and ran CCC again and it says it copied 1.8gb of data. What? So I reboot and it immediately crashes with the "press any button to restart" screen. So I do and now it's spinning, spinning, spinning, spinning. I think it's time to just walk away for a little bit.by davemchine - Tips and Deals
So far it has been a very negative experience. As noted in a thread further below I am having problems. I started by using CCC to clone my startup drive to the SSD but it wouldn't boot. So I formatted the SSD, repeated the clone, and now it boots but a bunch of apps crash immediately when I start them. Check permissions etc. I can't run safari or firefox. Apps are slow to launch. Well my initial clone completed, I rebooted the comptuer, and wait, and waited and waited. The Apple symbol finally appeared. So I waited, and waited, and waited and finally gave up. Tried a few times with no success. So I went back and reformatted the drive and am performing the clone again. This time I'm seeing 30-40MB/sec so this might be better.by davemchine - Tips and Deals
My ministack ssd from OWC just arrived and I am using CCC to clone my startup drive to it. It's running pretty slow. Keeps jumping from 2MB/sec to as high as 16MB/sec. I assume the internal drive is "busy" or just plain slow. Should be done in about an hour.by davemchine - Tips and Deals
