Quotevision63 QuotergG Hey, looks like we finally did something right. :) 10. Georgia. Official state bird: brown thrasher I’ve always liked this. Way to go, Georgia. What it should be: brown thrasher Great story. I remember when Ted Turner decided that the name of the Hockey team was going to be the Thrashers. When people debated him, he singlehandedly decided that since it was the statby DP - Tips and Deals

davester-there's a difference between "loopholes" and legal deductions and exemptions. Apple is not using loopholes. This government is doing everything it can to get the Americans who earn more to "share" their wealth.by DP - Tips and Deals
Bottom line is that both are bad news. Everyone stay safe! The United States and southern central Canada are unique in the world as far as weather patterns go. No where else do severe storms and tornados occur with such frequency and strength.by DP - Tips and Deals
The committee said there was no indication it had done anything illegal. Then why waste even more taxpayers money? If Apple is using legal methods allowed by law (yes, I used a redundancy) then what's the problem? If any company chooses to avoid the highest business tax in the world by legal methods than why are they wasting our time and money? Well, we know why...by DP - Tips and Deals

Quotevoodoopenguin QuoteDP We heard about leaving parsnips in the ground throughout winter which we did and we pulled them out as my wife was going to put new plants in. We had the "old" parsnips for dinner and wow! They were very sweet-no trace of bitterness at all. It'll be our SOP with parsnips now. Anyone else heard of this? Standard practice over here for growing parsnips, alwaysby DP - Tips and Deals
Quotecbelt3 Very nice. Our lavender is blooming like wild, it's perfume spread throughout the house on this weekend's balmy evenings. I just finished planting some tomatoes and peppers in my garden, which was suitably amended with manure and some more soil and a bit of peat moss. Tonight's project will involve planting some peas along the fence in the back, and some lettuces. I expect to be doingby DP - Tips and Deals
Well, just a few pix. I ended up doing nothing more than trimming branches, climbing up on the roof to clean branches and needles from the valleys, removing rampant ivy from the chimney and shingles, mowing the lawn-in other words, nothing to take pictures of. Wife got the veggie garden planted, tho, and some other shrubs are blooming. The lilacs are loaded with blooms this year. Here's one buby DP - Tips and Deals

QuoteAllGold QuoteDP I thought they grew only in forested areas. Wasn't that area previously "forested"? :) I'll bet without the exceptionally high rainfall we got this spring, they wouldn't be there. Everything I'm reading and hearing is that you basically never know when and where they'll pop up. You're right though, Al, we sure have had a lot of rain this Spring.by DP - Tips and Deals
I thought they grew only in forested areas. In Michigan, people make trips to hunt morels. My neighbor says they don't grow in the same spot year to year as they spread by spores but the weather conditions have to just right.by DP - Tips and Deals
Out in the yard today, of course. Pushing 80º and I will have more pix after the weekend... But. This is a pic of our driveway and the next door neighbors' house. The gravel patch is an area that was enclosed by the fence you see. We always had an issue with how narrow it was as the fence ended where the brick ends on the house. If we parked between the fence and our house you couldn't opeby DP - Tips and Deals

There have been issues since they went from a borate glass to tempered. My neighbor was in Consumer Reports and local news as hers shattered. She had taken it from the oven to a cork trivet on her table (it was Thanksgiving) and it sat for a full five minutes and then it shattered with her family there to witness it. It was not set on a cold surface beforehand. It has occurred since World Kitcheby DP - Tips and Deals

Apple currently keeps approximately $100 billion of its cash reserves overseas and out of the reach of America’s tax collectors. Apple could face a corporate tax rate of 35 percent under current U.S. tax laws if it tries to bring its cash into the U.S. Apple is definitely not alone in using this type of tax-avoidance strategy. JPMorgan (NYSE:JPM) estimates that over 1,000 U.S. companies hold aby DP - Tips and Deals
Dugan stated via email that the photos “are 100 percent legit” and that his only edits were exposure- and shadow-related since lighting was harsh at certain points because of the bright sunshine. “I went back to the same spot a few days later hoping lightning would strike twice,” Dugan said. “But the red-tailed hawks were hunting way off in the distance.” His final remark: “Reby DP - Tips and Deals
