She should talk with an attorney about whether diversion is available. At a glance, it may vary by county in Ohio. But for a first offense, if an option, that would allow her the chance to avoid a conviction and keep her record clean (although this may be debatable, since most criminal records checks pull up arrest records, regardless of outcome, and are often not updated with the final case stby michaelb - Tips and Deals

For some reason I have to admit that I have no idea what a "lens flare" is and the only time I can ever remember them discussed on this forum or elsewhere anywhere is in relation to the first and now second Star Trek reboot movies. Is this somehow critical to understanding and enjoying the movie?by michaelb - Tips and Deals
Our fire chief recommended getting CO detectors with a digital display of the level, because CO detectors are notorious for going off for all sorts of readings (this was after the entire fire dept arrived at our house, oxygen suits and everything, when our previous detectors went off one day). If CO is the same weight as air, wouldn't it diffuse widely in the house, making the location not thaby michaelb - Tips and Deals

I don't do tax policy, so I am a bit confused. I didn't think there is a tax exemption for political groups, liberal or conservative. Why would reviewing a group with an obvious political focus be clearly inappropriate? Are there Tea Party groups that carry out charitable activities? I can see a Patriot group doing border patrol claiming that is volunteering.by michaelb - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
Since we are asking questions that won't get answered, what is being covered up? I have never understood that essential aspect of this "controversy".by michaelb - 'Friendly' Political Ranting

Obamacare is based on the conservative and republican based principle that allowing private health insurance companies to negotiate based on price imposes price discipline to the market. That may be true. It allows consumers to select the private health insurance plan they like best on an open market exchange. QuoteLemon Drop There seem to be 2 different conversations going on - both related to the OP. One is whether the neighbor is receiving appropriate and effective care for her knee issues. Only she and her doctor can work on that one. The second is whether, as part of health care reform, there have been changes to Medicare that effect how doctors are reimbursed by Medicare for procedures likeby michaelb - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
QuoteLemon Drop These actually are changes to Medicare since 2010. In order to make sure they are reimbursed by medicare for these replacement procedures, physicians have to prove "medical necessity." This means they have to prove that non-surgical therapies, such as PT, weight loss, meds, have been tried but didn't solve the problem. Thanks. As others noted, obamacare does not change Medicare coverage requirements, other than some expansions in certain areas. I don't actually know the Medicare coverage requirements for surgery, but my guess would be that this is not traditional "Medicare", this is a Medicare Advantage plan, so in deciding to sign voluntarily for managed care, this person is now experiencing what managedby michaelb - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
I don't see that they considered the key fact of actually "living" in any of those states?by michaelb - Tips and Deals
I think the main forum is doing just fine, and adding organization would ruin that. So like everyone else, please don't change that. I don't really have a problem with the political side. i do go there and I do read some of the posts and occasionally post there. I do think subjectively the quality of the trolling has gone down over the past 6 months, so maybe this is in response to that. Iby michaelb - Tips and Deals
Spraying clothes/boots with permethrin is the well established and obvious choice. It is said to work extremely well for ticks, even killing on exposure. Deet is not very effective in contrast for ticks. This is hard to test, since ticks are "rare" even when the woods are swarming with them, but I do spray my boots a couple of times a year.by michaelb - Tips and Deals
I will just note (again) that the affordable care act made no significant changes to Medicare coverage (there were some expansions, particularly for drugs). If you decided to elect a private Medicare Advantage plan, you are selecting managed care, and they can impose additional costs on you as part of that, within some limits. If you don't like that, go back to traditional Medicare or change plby michaelb - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
Nice, I remember the thread. You have the wheel side down when you cross? I would have thought to flip it and have the wheels up for stability (larger wheels or a set of canoe/kayak wheels would drag better).by michaelb - Tips and Deals
Taking over TV seems the obvious choice, with enormous potential. I am sure there are a few consumers that like the cable/satellite model for delivery of content, but that seems very, very few. So basically we have a huge part of our economy locked down into a failed and disappointing system. The music industry and landlines were similar historically, so this doesn't seem impossible. iMovie should do this. Extract Audio from the clip. You can then copy it in to garageband for editing, but I can't remember the details of how to do that (it may just be cut and paste, it may involve exporting the audio to an editable format).by michaelb - Tips and Deals
I don't really watch many videos, but browsing on the ipad and using airplay to the ATV is usually easier. You can also use the remote app to search on the ATV, so really two ways to do the same thing. The OP initially asked about ABC.com. I don't have that installed, but may have tried that at some point. Many sites like that will block airplay for their video, and some don't. So withoutby michaelb - Tips and Deals
Quotegabester They should find the 3rd person with the yellow slicker and backpack and DSLR walking right behind those two guys and see if that person has any high res photos of those two guys. yup, I was going to say the same thing. Cell service will always have a capacity limit and that limit will pretty much always be overwhelmed in an event like this. Each "cell" can only handle so many unique calls simultaneously; once that limit is exceeded, any individual phone will not be able to connect.by michaelb - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
I think they all tend to fail, at least the teflon based ones. A wok seems like a bad idea, since nonstick and high heat don't go well together. I like have my pan searing hot before stir frying. There is an alternative process for nonsticking, that allows use of metal utensiles, and that may hold up better (but isn't as nonsticky either). Otherwise, buy cheap and replace when they show sby michaelb - Tips and Deals
Is anyone anywhere saying that smaller wheels like 20" would be faster on a bike? The smaller wheel would accelerate more quickly, but is less stable. So a larger wheel is "faster" due to stability. Larger wheels weigh more though. The fastest wheel is a trade off of being the lightest and the largest. There is a definite debate about the width of wheels, with evidence supportby michaelb - Tips and Deals
Also, if this was me, I would find a way to drop the far end into the canal at least some of the time. I don't know off hand of a good way to avoid to that, or to extract your self out of that mess once it happens either. A good rope mounted to the far end may let you drop it in place without missing, drawbridge style.by michaelb - Tips and Deals
I agree that there is really no good solution. But it would not be hard to build something out of wood that can support your weight and span 80 inches. It would just be too heavy to carry. I would be sceptical about the ramp idea. A good ladder and 2x12 seems stronger and simpler. However, you could get canoe wheels and mount those on the top side, so you wheel it down the street and flipby michaelb - Tips and Deals
