"Griffith observatory The Getty" LA Native here, Zero's recommendation is spot on. Griffith Observatory is closed on Mon & Tue so plan another day. The beach is nice; for a freak show go to Venice Beach, for a more relaxed atmosphere go to Huntington Beach. The Santa Monica Pier is a great place too. Sort of agree on this one. It's so easy to get sucked into the Christmas vortex that it's a relief when it's over. Of course it doesn't have to be a stressful time, this is ones own making. Just another option for a Windows OS, PhotoScape (free). Not sure it's a PhotoShop replacement but it will get the job done once you get used to the UI.
