Beware anything EA. "Unprecedented partnership" with Nintendo ended after EA calling their partners's hardware crap. EA stinks.by silvarios - Tips and Deals

QuoteZoidberg One thing I miss about the old OmniWeb browser was its ability to, on a site-by-site (or even page-by-page) basis, I could turn off style sheets (?) and force a "standard" appearance (i.e., black text on a white background). Some browsers still have per site preferences. If you are on Mac OS, try Opera or iCab, possibly Firefox as well, but Firefox might require an extenby silvarios - Tips and Deals
QuoteArticle Accelerator QuoteZoidberg I get bad retina burn from white-on-black text. According to one webmaster I mentioned it to, I "am the only person in the world wit that problem". So do I. Let that webmaster know. Daring Fireball? It is pretty close anyway. Dark grey with white text.by silvarios - Tips and Deals
Quotegabester Silly rabbit, don't you know dark background light text interfaces are less energy intensive and therefor more environmentally sustainable? g= Isn't this true on OLED screens? Yes, I know, you were just being funny.by silvarios - Tips and Deals

QuoteZoidberg Not yet, but will certainly try it out. Apple needs some competition on the iPad in the browser arena. I forget; why did they disallow Firefox for iPad? Apple disallows all third party browsers unless they use a custom markup like Opera mini or if they are simply another wrapper around Webkit, minus Nitro of course. Browsers can compete on features, but not effectively on perfby silvarios - Tips and Deals

While I'm glad there are more shows available to Amazon Prime, I'd prefer for such content to not be exclusive to one service.by silvarios - Tips and Deals
ztirffritz, iOS 4. Dog of an update for the older devices, even on my second gen touch. My Apple support waned when both of my iPod touches were reduced to "sort of works okay" devices.by silvarios - Tips and Deals
QuoteBillybob The show looks like it has potential. Now does this announcement mean that future episodes will be free for Prime members? I would think so. Sole rights to the pilot doesn't seem like much of a headliner. ;)by silvarios - Tips and Deals
Yep. I appreciate his recognition that yes, big corporations do in fact act as patent trolls, it isn't only non practicing entities. What does this mean for the people who agreed to license a bogus patent? Can they sue for breach of contract or something similar? Nathanby silvarios - Tips and Deals
Quotesekker Wow. What a yawner! If Apple's WWDC next month is this boring, Apple's stock will drop below $400. And google's stock went up. Go figure. Again, huh? Why was the keynote boring? You want boring, check out the original dual USB iBook introduction.by silvarios - Tips and Deals
Quotedecay well, the iPhone 5 is the same price, unlocked. that's all. remember, Apple is overpriced, not Android. Huh? Try again. I can get a brand new Android phone for less than $100. The problem with Apple is the older phones are overpriced. Comparable Android phones to the iPhone 4 are not $450. The 4S is probably a bit overpriced at $550. The beauty of multi vendor platforms is thby silvarios - Tips and Deals
Quotedecay ooh, a $650 unlocked smartphone! /sarcasm "stock Android running Samsung Galaxy S4: Google Edition, coming in June" Why the hate for the S4's price? Have you seen the prices on the two year old iPhone 4? $450!by silvarios - Tips and Deals

Quoteztirffritz They shouldn't have stolen the Sonics in the first place. Having said that, I hate basketball. It is an incredibly boring sport in my mind. When the scores of both teams are exceeding 100 each and they are tallied in 2-3 point increments it tells me that the sport isn't very challenging. It is essentially an aerobics exhibition with a ball involved. Wow! Never played basketballby silvarios - Tips and Deals

Quotejdc Interface is no iOS, but fine for the basics -- now that it runs Google Play it uses Chrome and has access to the Play store. 9" screen, 1920 x 1080, 16 GB + has a microSD slot. You made a good choice, in my opinion. I actually find the Nook HD/HD+ interface to be more sophisticated than iOS. The iOS row of icons with poorly bolted on app switcher and notifications doesn't do iby silvarios - Tips and Deals

Quotekap OS updates have not outdated my 6 year old Lenovo ThinkPad R61 laptop which came with the stock Windows Vista Home Ed. Now it is happily running Ubuntu 13.04 :) I agree. Open Source/Free software can do wonders for extending the life of PCs.by silvarios - Tips and Deals
Unity on the latest Ubuntu releases (12.04 and newer) can be a bit too heavy for lower specced PCs, such as my single core N270 Atom, Intel GMA950, 2 GB RAM, 16GB SSD Eee PC 901. Consequently, I found Bodhi Linux to be a better fit on my system. Bodhi 2.3.0 is built on top of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, but includes the Enlightenment desktop environment instead of the heavier Gnome, KDE, Unity, etc. I alsoby silvarios - Tips and Deals
Quoteztirffritz QuoteJEBB The real problem I've found with Ubuntu is the lack of good applications. Must be something about what you're trying to do. I have the opposite problem. Too much good software. Yeah there's a load of crap out there too but there is some amazing software available for Linux, and the Debian repos have thousands of pre compiled software apps that are just a mouse click awby silvarios - Tips and Deals
