The demise of OS X is as exaggerated as that of Apple 15 years ago. The fact of the matter is that desktop OSes have stabilized. The Finder doesn't need to be reinvented. File storage doesn't need to be reinvented, etc, etc. That said, I would much rather have seen Apple put more resources into OS X machines and software.
