Just got an email from my wife who is out of town on business. Her friend/coworker's niece was one of the teachers (not sure which of the two schools). From her friend's message: "She was pulled from school. Very injured, but will survive injuries with some permanent. Mental trauma may be the worst, lost most all of her students." Tragic, completely tragic.by Bo - Tips and Deals
As others have mentioned, my first gut was shingles as well. I had a small bout years ago and it sounded very similar to what you are describing. A good outcome is very dependent on early treatment.by Bo - Tips and Deals
Another vote for the Tenqas. I bought that pair for my 10 yo son last year and they've been great. Nice battery life, good sound and a little on the small side which is a bonus for kids. Note that if you get the white ones they do yellow a bit pretty quicklyby Bo - Tips and Deals
Not at all sure about the why and don't want to speculate. This did however really give my wife and I a scare. My wife and I actually rented a 10 person limo that same night in SF for my son's birthday. We escorted he and seven of his friends for a night in the city and at one point in the evening were crossing the Golden Gate bridge alongside a white stretch limo. MacUpdate is selling downloads of Data Rescue 3.2.2 for $39.99 (usually sells for $99)...that is a great deal!by Bo - Tips and Deals
Wow...that thing is like a black hole just sucking everything into it. That clip is insane! So damn scary. QuoteSpeedy QuoteCarm Who knows, but there was just an explosion in a Texas Fertilizer plant. Here is a short cell phone video of this fire/explosion taken by a couple from a safe distance. Well worth watching to the end. Lots of great input here as usual! I would expect nothing less and certainly appreciate it. Though I do like the Chromebook concept and price point, I think I'm tossing that one out on the basis of learning a new OS mid semester as pointed out. I'm going to check in with her tomorrow and see what her preference is given the myriad of choices. She has been sharing a Windows box with her roomby Bo - Tips and Deals
QuoteWailer I'd look for a used C2D macbook or else a cheap windows machine. You can get a refurb windows 8 i3 Lenovo for under $300 here. Lots of other comparable deals from Asus, etc. If you decide to stay with mac OS, I have this 2.4ghz C2D that needs a new battery but otherwise it's fine. If you're in LA, shoot me a PM. Wow...lots of Lenovos there that could easily work for her. Thanks fby Bo - Tips and Deals

Quotemodelamac QuoteZoidberg Trying to access some PDFs at a state-run web site (Louisiana DOTD); when I access the link below via Safari I don't see any PDFs, but when I use Firefox (or Chrome), I see them fine. Can someone confirm? Is it Safari 6.0.3 in general, or is it just me? (As I search my memory, this happened to me with Safari a long time back.) ADDED * I don't need anyone toby Bo - Tips and Deals

QuoteLemon Drop So far in addition to UW he likes Oregon State (engineering), U of Oregon, Santa Clara University, Cal Poly (though they lack in humanities offerings,) UT Austin, and CU Boulder. We will visit the latter 2 next month. Careful...spring in Boulder can be particularly alluring! I decided pretty much immediately upon visiting that CU Boulder was the school for me. I good friend of mine is trying his best to make a living through selling on etsy as well. I know he has been very happy with the system. He does handcrafted chopsticks, hairsticks, knitting needles, spoons and other items. Gotta go for a shameless plug here...he's a great guy, does beautiful work and can use any exposure he gets:by Bo - Tips and Deals
Quotesilvarios QuoteSpeedy QuoteBoThe whole thing wound up being super easy. The Apple way. Sad to see the Xserves go away. You didn't read my links or posts? Not really Apple's fault because of the nature of a server, but a RAID or SAS drive wouldn't have been able to migrate, at least not easily. Secondly, both SAS and SATA drives both show up under SCSI when connected with the ADM to theby Bo - Tips and Deals
So it was a success (and an easy one at that)! The Xserve had three caddies with drives in it. I popped them out and they were three identical Hitachi SATA drives. The connector on the caddie was not one I had on my docking station so I popped the drives out of the caddies and tried them one at a time with the docking station. All three mounted as individual drives with a single volume and allby Bo - Tips and Deals
Hmm...this could get prohibitively interesting. I hadn't even considered that they might be SCSI drives. Guess I'll find out shortly. If there is a RAID card I'll assume my only option is to copy files rather than pull usable drives. Thanks for the links. They make it apparent that this isn't a necessarily a straight forward task. Will report back.by Bo - Tips and Deals
I'm helping a friend who needs to remove a single or possibly multiple drives from an Xserve (I believe Intel vintage) tomorrow as the Xserve is being decommissioned. The goal is simply to have access to the data down the road. Seems easier to pull drives than copy terabytes of data. My questions: 1. Can this/these pulled drive(s) be mounted on an iMac just using an appropriate hard drive dby Bo - Tips and Deals
QuoteWailer I did find something called hoteltonight and saw that priceline has an app for same day deals after 11am. Both are App only which is interesting. Anyone have any experience with either of these or something else? We've used hotel tonight a couple of times in the LA area and been very happy. I too am so sad to hear of Greg's passing. I found myself perusing his FB page and just laughing out loud...some very entertaining stuff! Then of course some poignant images that get the tears to well up. He certainly didn't shy away from addressing his ALS in his postings. He'll definitely be missed.by Bo - Tips and Deals

Agree with Hal but with one twist...do it in a Lamborghini, Ferrari, Lotus, Aston Martin, Porsche and Audi. He is 16 right? Perfect mother son day!
