Hardly surprising, the U.S. has the highest corporate tax rate in the world, and is one of the few places that insists on taxing every dollar, no matter where it was earned. Repatriating money at that rate would put Apple at a competitive disadvantage and possibly open the company up to a shareholder lawsuit.

Hmm. Engadget recommends WDTV Live products over the Roku 3 if you (or in this case, me) have a lot of locally-saved content. I'm not familiar with that box at all, though.

Quoterichorlin I would try the new Roku 3. You don't have to hack it and it plays well with Macs. Install Plex channel on the Roku and Plex server on your Mac and you can access all your iTunes media without any conversion. Thinking about adding an ATV, would prefer if it played nice with my receiver and the mass of content on my server. Perian solves that problem for a Mac, anybody successfully loaded it on a current ATV? (There are tutorials online, but without an ATV, I can't exactly test them.) Thanks...

I spent the last 12 years working on aircraft avionics, and I would be quite surprised if that story is accurate. Pilot paranoia and/or ignorance (very, very few pilots have technical/engineering backgrounds) and CYA over a screw-up is a lot more likely. This is a very nerdly story of school trouble. When I was in high school (mid-80's), the only computers in the building were three or four Apple ][e's in the library. Not one single teacher, librarian or other school employee knew how to use them in any way. One of the few programs available for those Apples was "Computer Football" (I'm not even sure if that was the actual name).
