Bad news for Romney: Romneycare appears to be working
#1
Since I left the state of MA, I was curious how it's been going, and found this:

And now also this:

... oy. What a mess... Frothy is trying to stick to his conservative base, while Mittens is trying to step away as best he can.

matt, yeah, it's interesting how this has worked out... but public opinion seems to be in favor.

I'm curious how the current MA residents who are here on the forum feel about how it's worked out there. When I left, state and local politics was really a mess as a result of the Big Dig and a series of Republican governors and governor-wannabes. I was really surprised when Deval Patrick got elected.

I've heard from people who are finding it somewhat expensive and there is always the fact that it is costing the state more as it becomes more successful but, overall, I get the feeling most people are happy to have that option (I have HC through my job).

it's also nice to be able to predict that if you lose your HC from work, there is a workaround. BUT, any person formerly employed must buy COBRA for the duration offered at hideously high prices before becoming eligible for any MA connector care. at least, that is how it was explained to me when I had to go w/o HC for a couple of months from switching jobs.

As opposed to anywhere else, where you have to buy COBRA at hideously high prices until you no longer qualify and then you get to use the emergency ward.

Romneycare very small scale and they didn'thave to raise taxes to pay for it. They had the money in the bank to fund it. makes a difference.
