How about a little Zydeco music? That's what I think of when someone mentions cajun music.

Zydeco is of Caribbean influence and is centered around the Honer type of accordion. Cajun music is centered around Ville Platte, LA. And its seven surrounding parishes and is driven by the diatonic accordion that is constructed of mainly wood.
Having said that they are often combined or used interchangeable, hence the common use of CZ music.

The music I linked to is different than Cajun or Zydeco. Maybe someone can explain it.

Was *just* coming to post that. Even though I'm still a refugee (8 years this year), I listen to the hometown station as often as I can. There's also an iOS app:

Bobby Charles was quite diverse, and hard to pin down. A great songwriter and singer, R & B, "Swamp Pop/Rock", ballads, etc. Not Zydeco at all. One of the great unsung guys.
"Walking to New Orleans" is probably my favorite. Tennessee Blues is another one. My Dad lived in Maurice, and I would occasionally see Bobby in places between Abbeville, Maurice and Lafayette, Louisiana .
Check him out on you tube.
He played in "The Last Waltz" with the Band, but his appearance was cut from the film. It is o you tube.
He and Dr John are among musicians that were friends of Dockside Studios, recording studio in the country out of Maurice, Louisian.

Yet they left Neil Diamond in.
