You're not counting the two days it takes to ship the CD from an Amazon warehouse.

It takes 2-3 days for my slide film to get processed.

let's say i'm leaving for vacation TOMORROW, my wife tells me TODAY she wants XYZ CD.

buy from Amazon, get MP3s, keep wife happy, PROFIT!

The interesting thing is that the line is blurred when I can gift the shrink-wrapped CD to a friend (certain titles only, of course) and still retain the downloaded version for myself.

I'm not holding my breath, but getting a Kindle copy of a physical book doesn't seem so far off.
