The Canon 35mm 2.0 is an ok lens. Not my favorite. It's not a bad lens but it's not inexpensive for what it is. I'd spend a little bit more and get a faster prime if it was an option and I needed that focal length.
Want to grab a 50mm fixed lens for my T2i... Anyone use the F1.8 "Nifty Fifty" then went to the F1.4?

Yeah, I don't like what Canon has done with their 35mm offerings either.
The 35/2 optically is an ok lens but it is absolutely ancient, not that cheap and doesn't have a USM AF motor (but neither does the 50/1.8). So instead of updating to a new 35/2 USM at a reasonable price, just recently they introduced a 35/2 IS at $850. I don't consider IS to be vital on a fast 35mm so all it does is jack up the price. Plus I'm not impressed by the 35 IS optically. Your only other choice is the 35/1.4L for megabucks.

Hmmmm, that Sigma 30mm 1.4 is looking pretty good for around $300-$400 right now.
