If you just had to wait a couple days...

Local communities cannot stop the acquisition of illegal guns (witness Chicago) nor can State governments - not when a neighboring state decides to make guns available. Those serious about imposing some sort of reasonable restraint on availability or control over who may have weapons have to see that it can only be done on a Federal level.

Like it or not, irresponsible or non-existant state regulations are the underlying problem and need to be addressed by Federal law.

Agree with this.

In the case I cited, the gun was purchased legally. Most mass murderers, people committing domestic-dispute related homicides, and many criminals, purchase their guns easily and legally.

At least in the case of emotionally charged domestic disputes, a waiting period before you can get the gun allows things to calm down, and saves lives. (This applies to suicides as well) Yes this would be state law at this point, but I think a federally mandated waiting period would make sense for all gun sales.

I can't think of any situation in Wyoming (which essentially has no gun control laws at this point) where a waiting period would be a problem for legitimate sporting, ranching, or defensive uses of guns.

I wonder if handling this as a Public Health control ? CDC kind of thing ?

Haven't we already covered how the NRA stopped that from happening?

What if a couple of days delay makes me late for my well-regulated militia meeting?

As mom used to say...
A failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
