iCal issue - time zone getting changed either by google or ical
#1
10.8.4 and current version of ical (6.0 v1648).

I have a google calendar setup that I primarily access through ical on my mac and using the calendar app on my ipad. I've been having an issue recently where I'll add an event on my mac in ical, set the time/date/etc, and it's fine. But later, when i come back to look at the event, the time zone has changed to "UTC" (I'm in US Eastern Time zone), and the time is out of whack (i.e. off by -4 hours or something like that).

I change the time zone back to Eastern time, and it's fine. My mac's time and date is automagically set by internet time, and my google calendar is set to eastern time (just logged in and double checked). What's going on here?

Have you looked in iCal Preferences>Advanced>Time Zone Support

FYI---In 10.8 it is now Calendar-for consistency across platforms---I always still say iCal and Address Book rather than Contacts.

yes, it's checked/on. Should I just turn that off? I assume ical would take cues from the OS-level time/date if I did that?

I have mine off---I would try it off and see.....I have heard it has been problematic when traveling----in your case---maybe your computer is traveling without your knowledge.
