App to check drive health of an HDD connected via ext USB?

Well, I tried that menu command, restarted, tried it a bunch more-- absolutely no support for external drives in this app. To chaka's credit, he never actually claimed it worked for him...
Second drive zeroing now. First drive runs smooth as buttah and very quietly (these are the 1 TB FALS like my iMac's internal.)
Interestingly the first was formatted for mac and the second in FAT32 despite being from the same seller.

It's worked on about 50% of the drives that I've tried it on.

In addition to the driver, you also need support for it built into the drive's enclosure/bridge and there's never any documentation to tell you which enclosures have that support and which don't.
