Call your local bar association; they can hook you up with an attorney who will help at a reduced rate (or free).
Contrary to popular perception, lawyers are not scum suckers. (No, I'm not one, but have worked directly with them for 31 years.)

Well, some lawyers are scum suckers, but then again some of every profession are that. I have met both kinds, happy to say so far the non-scum suckers outnumber the scum-sucking-lawyer types.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice.
We've decided we don't want to let things get dirtier than they are. We're going to let the remains go to my Uncle's wife without a fight. Hopefully she'll return the kindness and give us a portion for a ceremony. If not, we can throw flowers or something. There is other stuff involved too but we're probably going to let it all go despite his wishes. So sick of all of this. |
