Down the Rabbit Hole for Tim Burton
Director will tackle 'Alice in Wonderland' and remake 'Frankenweenie'

Tim Burton is expected to direct a 3-D version of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" for Walt Disney Co.

According to the industry trades, Burton's "Alice" will be a combination of live-action and performance-capture and will begin shooting in early 2008. Linda Woolverton adapted Carroll's novel.

"Alice in Wonderland" will be the first film in Burton's new two-picture deal with Disney.

Following "Alice," Burton will finally tackle a full-length version of "Frankenweenie."

Burton's original 1984 "Frankenweenie" was 29 minutes long and starred Barret Oliver as the young Victor Frankenstein, who brings his dead dog back to life with unpredictable consequences. The remake will be done in stop-motion animation. "Frankenweenie" will hit theaters in the same digital 3-D format that has resurrected his "The Nightmare Before Christmas." . .

I have Frankenweenie on laserdisc as a bonus to The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Vincent is on there, too.
