Any large 4:3 format LCDs out there?
#1
We are looking for several large (around 27") standard format LCD monitors for incorporation into an exhibit that necessitates the 4:3 ratio. Anyone know if such is being made?

The largest I've seen is the one I use, a Planar PL2010 @ 20.1". Runs at 1600 x 1200 though.

Thanks Enrico. That is actually the same model I use at home. Unfortunately it is not quite large enough for this application.

I think Planar still sells the PX212M, a 21.3" 1600x1200 display.

Older model LCD TVs are the only thing I can think of. Maybe not what you had in mind because of their much lower resolution.

There might be some larger computer monitor-type LCDs made that were specialty devices (medical imaging, etc.) but they would be enormously expensive, probably even used.

Could you use widescreen models but mask off the sides?

How about using a 30" monitor rotated into "portrait" mode?

Thanks folks. Actually, some combo of rotating/masking is probably exactly what we will end up doing in the end.
