Should I Buy an Airport Express?
#11
what what router do they currently have? I'd suggest considering a buffalo HP model or netgear's newest which got great power ratings. these are near $100 but its much easier to configure one router than several.

from the low end, look at Asus routers on newegg. not sure if they'll have the features you want but dd-wrt would ensure that. they start at $30.

I vote for the apple express for the extra capabilities and almost transparent configuartion and operation.
But since interference with other devices may be scrambling your signal, first try switching router channels.
If you are in auto mode, set a channel. if you are on, say ch.6, change to channel 9 or 10.

good luck.

Thanks I'll try changing channels.

Speed test sucks on the iMAc in the front room but fine near the router on the laptops.
