Don't need MORE money... need it budgeted intelligently!
Just bought a pallet of 24 eMacs to "upgrade" part of the campus. So that tells you how often we've budgeted for new computers. Meanwhile, on the other side of the island, we waste money on some new furniture for a classroom - removing the perfectly servicable furniture already there to storage..... had to use up that budget! Be easier if Apple just actually paid attention to schools, rather than just lip service, and realized that making this stuff Lion-only means that here in the real world, 80% of schools won't be using it any time soon. For the most part, It's really not THAT hard to keep 10.5 and 10.6 in the loop for education-targeted software.

Add to that all of the school systems that aren't Mac, but are Windows-based and the percentage of schools excluded is even higher. If Apple's goal is to move more iPads, then limiting the software to Lion-only will cause Apple to fail big-time with that goal. I would have thought that Apple, being a hardware company who uses software to move hardware, would have opened up the software to multiple OS's and versions to facilitate iPad sales to schools and parents. The iPod is a classic example of this formula, once Apple developed iTunes for both Windows and Macs, the iPod took off, and the rest is history.
