The media hyped the Zimmerman incident

I think it's good that young Americans (or any Americans) learn the Emmett Till story.
Doesn't hurt to think about it.
The cases are obviously quite different but if we're talking about a law enforcement community's rather casual acceptance of the death of a young black person, then you could certainly draw some parallels.

There are SOME parallels. An essay contrasting Trayvon Martin to Emmett Till doesn't necessarily mean that she was intending to equate them. By definition, she'd be citing the differences in the cases.

I have no doubt that Sam assumes that we're all just a bunch of silly people that are so far from the real world that there is simply no point in discussing ANYTHING here, but enjoys inserting these iron clad slam dunk kinda proofs of her world view. As far as she's concerned, she's right and the rest of us are nuts.

It seems that we are now discussing, in what could be called a harassing manner, the poster and not the topic. I think we're trying to avoid that.

I don't know samintex and won't try to guess the motivations. Probably best to let people speak for themselves.

I'm not harassing anyone- geez... but I am trying to guess her motivations... how is that harassment? Did I call her a bad name? Did I say anything bad about her?

but then, I'm just speaking for myself...

I wouldn't describe your comment as a compliment.

Oh I agree-- but I get bit pretty badly with extreme ignorance most of the time I participate in political discussions in the workplace, and just getting my work done takes enough out of my all too limited cognitive and emotional capacity...

How about just ending this silly thread. The OP was a ridiculous piece of troll bait irrelevant to the issues in the Trayvon Martin case. It's a travesty that the most ridiculous and nonsensical posts are the ones that attract the most attention. Just say no to feeding the troll.

Can we get a little animated Hitler with a pancake on his head added to the gif arsenal?
