Edwards not guilty on one count, jury deadlocked on others
#21
So I guess most guilty verdicts are presumed guilty since they mostly rely on preponderance's of elements which collectively are considered proof.

Either way, Edwards is free and still rich and O.J. is in jail and broke. But then Edwards didn't really commit any crimes.

For criminal charges, the burden of proof for a guilty verdict is generally "beyond a reasonable doubt". I'm pretty sure that only civil charges are tried based on "a preponderance of the evidence", which is a much lower burden of proof.

Exactly right. Burden of proof in criminal matters is absolute while burden of proof in civil matters is not.
