Niagara Falls trip and iPhone use
#11
Thanks for the info. The AT&T Canada plans are about $5 plus charges for data, phone, and text. We'll have Wifi at the hotel, so can use Facetime to call and check on the kids back home (their aunt is staying with them).

I was curious about getting an AT&T signal since we'll be right on the border. Maybe we'll just take our chances and call AT&T if we need to once we get there.

We were there last year, and the Rogers signal was MUCH stronger (even on the US side) than AT&T.

Our iPhones were REALLY trying to connect thru the Canadian carrier.

We are staying on the top floor of a hotel in Niagara Falls, ON, facing the US side and my iPhone locked in to AT&T even without having turned off data roaming (which I did subsequently do).

Usually when in Canada I will get a warning message that if I want to continue using the device I will accrue a charge (like $15/MB). I haven't received one of those so I am continuing on the premise that all is well and I won't get the international charge. Will only use the iPhone when in the room because I fear that otherwise it will lock on to a Rogers or Shaw signal.
