how to find out what is taking up room on my iPhone
#1
When I sync my iPhone with iTunes, it says I have 4.3GB of "Other." Is there a program that will help me discover what is in this category?

part of it is your cache for Safari. try clearing it in settings and see how much space frees up.

A quick google at a few threads on this said that a backup and Restore will help slim down that data. PhoneView may also help you see what's on there. It's a good app, I use it from time to time.

I had 3.14GB of "Other" and cleared Safari cache and cookies (Settings--Safari) and that took it down to around 3gb...not much slimmer! Looks like a Restore is in order.

What about photo stream? Are the pics in photo stream actually ON the phone or is that just in the cloud?

That actually doesn't help me. That info goes into the App section. This "Other" section does not include app info. There are no big memory hogs among my apps. I may try a full backup and restore and see if that helps. Right now, I have plenty of room on my phone, so it isn't that big of a deal. I was mainly curious.

Please let us know if that works, DavidS. I've looked all over for a solution to this "Other" but nothing definitive seems to work.
