Help with Apple Voodoo- Contacts not syncing
#1
Mac Pro- MacOS 10.12.1
iPhone 7- iOS 10.1.1

- All of a sudden the contacts list on my iPhone 7 is empty- no contacts
- The contact list on my Mac Pro is up to date and looks fine
- Contacts on my wife's iPhone 6s are up to dat and in sync with my Mac Pro
- We sync our contacts and calendars from the common source- my iCloud/Apple account

But I can't get my iPhone to sync anymore. It seemed to be fine up until this evening.

Any thoughts or suggestions? I've been doing this for years and it's been almost automatic up until now. Any idea on what I'm missing?

Silly question: You've confirmed that all of your contact-groups are enabled/checked?

Not a silly question at all. When I launch my Contacts app on the iPhone, all I get is an overlay on the screen that says "No Contacts". there is no longer a Groups button (or whatever) in the upper left hand corner like there used to be. It's the first thing I checked. I can't get anything to happen.

If you haven't changed any settings recently, try a force-reboot: On an iPhone 7, press and hold the Sleep and Volume Down buttons and continue to hold them until you see the screen change to show the Apple logo.

...If that doesn't fix it:

Do you sync contacts via iTunes or via a cloud service such as iCloud or Gmail?

OK, I have no idea what happened now, but the contacts app did have the + sign available. I tapped that and entered my personal info. As soon as I entered it, bang- everything else started to sync back onto the phone one by one. Never encountered anything like that before, but there you go- it's all back.
