How to stop apps from opening on login?

I have an older VPN app that I am no longer using, but am not quite ready to delete. It is not in my Login Items list for my user, but somehow insists on launching when I login to my account.

How to stop this behavior without deleting?

Same thing happens with Chrome. Did everything they said to keep it from starting up upon login. Always reverts and does it again. Like a friggin' cockroach.

If a deamon gets loaded on login, the only way to get rid’ of it is to uninstall it.

Its probably worth poking around the Library directories.

Launchd might be starting items as well - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Launchd
