Lucky we live in a safe neighborhood.

After waiting patiently for the right deal, yesterday I added my line back to our T-Mobile Family plan. I had had to leave T-Mo because I had no signal at work, but since I'm now working from home, I'm back. All I was waiting for and expecting was a free add-a-line with bill credits, figuring I'd just buy a phone; either an SE or 12 Mini. Then she asked if needed a phone and mentioned i could get a free iPhone SE 2020 (after bill credits). That kind of made my "which phone" decision for me. That settled, I would have been fine with the 64GB model but she said I could get the 128 or 256 if i wanted, the only difference being that a $49.99 deposit would show on the bill and then get credited back. So I figured what the hell, I might as well go for the 256. She said they'd ship it free and I could expect it Wednesday.

Well, I returned from my nice little ride today to see a box sitting on our front step right out in the open. Sure enough, it was the phone. As I said in the subject line, it's times like these I'm especially grateful we live in a safe neighborhood in suburbia.

Anyway, my little project tonight is the setup. I may be chiming in with questions if it doesn't go as expected. I'll have to get used to a bigger sized phone, but my eyes will appreciate it even if my hands don't. And I'm betting I won't even have to consider another new phone for at least another five years.

How long did you have to be a line short?

If i understand your question, we had four lines with T-Mobile for many years. I ported over to an ATT MVNO in July of 2016, and we kept the other three lines on T-Mo.

So, 4 years-ish.

I think at this point its just assumed you have a doorbell camera or similar to dissuade thieves.

Given the number of people who've appeared on camera stealing, whether or not they realized they were on camera, I'd say that few crooks stay away from various neighborhoods because there might be cameras.

I wish more people had cameras near the street to catch license plates.

Or cameras at lower heights to catch faces vs tops of heads.
