getting 3 empty file cabinets from Cleveland to Chicago?
#1
I've spotted some 5-drawer file cabinets (not that common) on eBay that are cheap and would fit my space, but they're local pickup only from a warehouse in Cleveland and I'm in Chicago. uShip estimates someone would do the job for about $250. I figure flying there and driving a U-Haul back would be $300. Same to rent a pickup truck for two days.

Any options I'm not thinking of?

There are sooo many used office furniture vendors in Chicago there is no way that they don't have some locally. I'd go that route personally.

Add $200 to the price you are willing to pay and buy them locally.

definitely local used. I dropped 3 4 drawers we had on craigs and sold for $75 each. There were many others for $50.

Another option is dump all that old paper, 7 yrs is all the gummint requires. Scan what you need or send it out for scanning and reduce the amount of space hogging paper you have.
Banks are required to hold 7 years electronically, EoBs and perhaps CCs too.

Use that extra found space for Knappogue 16 twin wood, El Tesoro reposado, and DOC Rioja, del Duero, Jumilla, Priorat.
I'll bring the glassware.
