He needed to do everything he could to detach himself from "Democrats" if he wanted a chance to win. He could have done a lot worse. Because he didn't they put him on the same plane with AOC.
Ultimately, that's life in a 50/50 Senate. So many races that "should" have been won were not but for a lack of registration and voting. If Georgia didn't come through with a literal miracle, we wouldn't have had that. I registered over 700 something people in Georgia the summer before the election. The Republicans in the last stretch of Trump's term would have been the Globetrotters dunkin' all over the Democrats.
Ironically, prior to 2018, the only thing that saved Democrats was the maligned Filibuster. I believe the Democrats used it something like 219 times to thwart Republican evil.
