Woo-hoo! Another marathon under my belt!
#1
Hey everyone,

Just sitting here in the Baltimore-Washington airport waiting for my flight back up north after a glorious run in the Marine Corps Marathon. The weather was absolutely perfect for a marathon (high 50s, low 60s, sunny and sometimes overcast). If you have plans on running a first marathon, I strongly suggest signing up for Marine Corps. The course is (more or less) flatter than a pancake, and there is a supremely energetic feel the whole day, with runners traversing most of the tourist destinations in D.C. proper. The only downside is that there are some sections (I'd say 10-15% worth) that have no, or almost no, spectators. My folks got to see me run today, and I ran a (surprisingly) good bit faster than my first marathon (Boston--which many of you helped me fundraise for--thanks again!!), coming in with a time just a hair under 3 hours and 22 minutes. I may just quit while I'm ahead and start working on that beer belly, but we'll see.

Cheers!

Just ran my first marathon last week here in KC. The KC marathon has tons of hills, and I finished in 3:55. I think I would have had a 3:40 time without all the hills! It was a great day and it's exhilarating to train for that type of race.

I'm drinking a beer today with football on, so that's always a nice way to spend the day as well...

Good for you Tofer. I used to run the 100 meter eons ago, but even a 400 meter would nearly kill me. I admire anyone who can do a marathon.

If God wanted me to be a runner, I'd have been born with four legs Wink

Congrats!
It is true that the sheer camaraderie and the synenergy of the crowd was incredible
Quiting? I don't think it is that easy once you have experienced the high of a marathon Wink
Aiming for my first marathon ever, I trained and ran my first 1/2 marathon in L.A., CA. Then, as luck would have it, I had a severe case of a cold a month prior to the event. Now I am hoping to go for one in Pasadena, CA. It will be the first for city and for me as well.

Great Tofer!

I just did a local 5K this AM in 22:35 (my second best time ever). The weather in PA was similar temps, but windy as all getup and chilly in the shade.
I will start building some more weekly base miles to start training next month...for my first Half Marathon.
I will be traveling to VA Beach in March for the Shamrockfest. Looking forward to doing the course with my wife and sister-in-law.

Congrats on the marathon!!
