"Lost Pants" Judge Loses His Job!
#1
[quote AP] WASHINGTON (AP) — A judge who lost a $54 million lawsuit against his dry cleaner over a pair of missing pants has lost his job, District of Columbia officials confirmed.

Roy Pearson's term as an administrative law judge expired May 2 and the D.C. Commission on Selection and Tenure of Administrative Law Judges has voted not to reappoint him, Lisa Coleman, the city's general counsel, wrote Nov. 8 in response to a Freedom of Information Act request from The Associated Press. ... DC area radio talk shows are promoting the idea of getting Pearson disbarred for his repeated abuse of the legal system {he's infamous for unsuccessfully suing people for petty reasons}.

Amazing. Once a judge is on the bench, it takes a LOT to get him / her fired. Which is a good thing in most cases, judges are supposed to be above influence, protected from outside pressure, more to preserve the overall integrity of the justice system, rather than individuals on the bench.

If Judges could be easily fired, the system would be compromised by pressure groups or ideologues who want to influence or intimidate judges. As a result, once you're a judge, you can be eccentric and hell, and get away with it....

....up to a point. Looks like this clown crossed the line, and had his office taken from him. in the interest of citizens everywhere, it's about time!
