Phone Opinions: Samsung Galaxy S3 ?
#11
I guess you missed my post last month about "my" teenagers and SIII phones. 1 got lost on the first day it went to school, and the other boy has dropped his twice in the first 2 weeks. Screen royally screwed up x2, and now charging issues.

Is your son paying for it himself? If so, let him buy it. If you are paying, get something cheap, and maybe ruggedized.

Although 32 & 64GB models of Samsung phones are supposed to be available, I've yet to see anything other than 16GB models in retailers. My ATT contract expired last year. The Samsung Note 3 should be out soon. If I can find a 64GB model, I'll pull the trigger.

Don't they take SD cards?

I jumped out of the iphone pond with the iPhone 5 after being underwhlmed with the 5's offerings. Got a SGIII. Haven't looked back. Love how much I can customize. Plus, it has taken a few drops at the gym like a champ with no scratches or cracks.

Does anyone know what the HTC Verizon equivalent would be?

Probably something like the HTC Rezound would be as close as you could get.

A co worker has one and is very happy with it. She keeps in a bumper case and still works great after a few drops. For her the killer feature was the camera, better and faster than the then current 4s.

It is big, but because it is so thin; it is still fit in my front shirt pocket.

The one thing I like about the S3 is the ability to add an inductive charging back. (my current phone has a slowly dying microusb connection).

Of course, with a teenaged user, I doubt the life expectancy of the phone is long enough to worry about the connector going bad from use. The whole thing likely will be broken within a year, tops anyways...

is that using INDUCTIVE reasoning.....???

"Don't they take SD cards?"

Yes they do BUT, some programs will only run when they're installed on the native memory. A add on card should only be considered as storage memory NOT working memory.
