My ten year old daughter and I started at Ikea for lunch (they charged me $5.99 for chiken tenders and fries instead $1.99 for the day's special of fish and chips, which is what I actually got. I had to stand around for a couple minutes waiting for them to correct the mistake, and "to make up for the wait," they refunded me the full $5.99 (plus tax), and didn't charge me anything for the fish and chips).
We then went to: Five Below - didn't get anything Lowe's - bought two poinsettias for 99 cents each Famous Footwear - looking for boots for my daughter, struck out Old Navy - didn't get anything, but they had the distinction of having the longest line to check out that we saw all day. It snaked back almost halfway to the back of the store. I'd guess it might have been a 20 - 30 minute wait to check out. Apparently *everything* was 50% off, so I guess it was worth it. AC Moore - bought 3 big scented candles (similar to Yankee Candles): "Winter Spruce," "Festive Wreath," and "Cinnamon Vanilla" scents. They were $2.50 each. I later saw genuine "Yankee Candles" at Staples for $28 each! Sheesh! I hope these smell halfway decent when burning. Walmart - I had no intention of going there. The parking lot was packed--confirming my plans to stay far away. This particular Walmart is a complete disaster to shop in on any given day. Performance Bike - Looked at some bikes. Not planning to buy one any time soon, but a guy can dream. (Some of you may remember my posts about a year and a half ago when I'd had my old bike stolen, and needed to get a new one quickly, in time for a planned cross-country trip. I ended up getting a really nice Fuji. Totally loved it. Then it, too, was stolen. :-( A few months later, though, I found the first bike that had been stolen, and got it back. (A guy who works at the restaurant across the street from my house had seen it leaned up against our house all day (I'd forgotten I put it there), so he took it. I saw it locked up next to the restaurant, and when I told them it was mine, I got it back.) Staples - Bought a box of Barista Prima Coffeehouse "Italian Roast" Keurig pods - 18 count. Each box was on clearance for $2.00. I only bought one, planning to try it, and go get more if I liked it. Having a cup now, and I like it, and plan to go back today to get as many as they have left. Monster Pets - Just looking. Some cute bunnies, etc. Target - Looked at iPads, toys, sporting goods, household items, etc. Looked for a sewing machine they had on sale (none on the shelf, but had one in the back...while waiting, looked at reviews, decided it was not quite what I wanted). Bought some groceries, thereby avoiding what was to be our final stop (the grocery store). Had a fun time. About 4.5 hours of running around. Never really had big crowds to deal with. Just a fun start to the holidays for us.

Man, cbelt, I feel for you with that migraine mess! Whew, when I have what I call one of my "bad" days - oh me, kicking off would be a relief!

It's obviously old tech, but she's thrilled with it, and actually I'm a little jealous (all I have is an old LG optimus, which unfortunately refuses to stop doing the job). I'm actually wrestling with the idea of applecare, since it's doomed even with the proverbial log of wood iPhone case ;-) kj.
