What's that you're hiding HomePod mini?
#1
Apparently the mini has temperature and humidity sensors that could be enabled with updates.

If this is true and Apple enables them, I can see buying several. First, they would replace the Ecobee sensors that I have, some of which drop as they are the first generation which don't have the range of the newer sensors. Plus, I could use them to run some temperature automations. Lastly, the intercom feature would be nice.

I honestly think we can expect the HomePod product line to go away. Overpriced compared to equivalent functionality products from other vendors. My Apple loyalty does not extend to my over-extended budget.

Eventually, maybe.

But I think the HomePod mini is doing much better most anybody thinks.

I wish Apple hadn't dropped the ball with the HomePod, because it had a lot of promise.

But Apple decided long ago to set it adrift on an ice floe in the Arctic.

I still like my HPs but don't expect any more updating.

If Siri on the HP was as good as Siri on the 'Phone, that would be a whole different matter.

It would still be far short of what Apple could do, but it would make a huge difference to me, and really, I'm all that counts.

$99 is not overpriced.

Also, I think Apple will continue the product line for a few reasons, including its importance to HomeKit.
