That smoldering dumpster fire that is FedEx (rant)
#1
(please excuse my need to rant)

Order from Wallys shipped Weds. the 17th from Arkansas. That evening
it's in St. Louis then departs early AM on Thursday. That afternoon, it
arrives in Hagerstown (MD). Leaves that evening and arrives that night
in Aberdeen (MD). Leaves and arrives early (5AM) Friday morning in
New Castle, DE. Fifteen miles from delivery...
POOF, it's fscking disappeared!

It has now been "Out for delivery" for FOUR DAYS.

I do not plan on ever seeing this delivery & 'Big Wally' is not happy.
How the he!! did FedEx ever get entrusted with the vaccine delivery???

FedEx Ground is a dumpster file. Given the origins of FedEx Ground, this is not entirely surprising, although it is a bit surprising the parent organization hasn't improved that service after all these years.

FedEx Air, AFAIK, is still top-notch.

I think Fedex overnight is the gold standard - and gold is expensive!

Everything else is all interoperated and is becoming one thing - and it's all bad!

I had an Apple Watch from Target be "out for delivery" for several days. I finally called FedEx and a very competent person ran it down at a Walgreens, asked if I wanted it to be picked up and delivered to me (I declined--I said I'll go get it), called Walgreen's with me on the phone and confirmed there was a package there for me and actually asked them what time they closed that evening. I went and got it that night. The next night the lady called me back and said the package showed as being picked up but she just wanted to make sure I got it.

It was a remarkable response to a mess-up that they somehow caused.

I have replaced UPS with FedEx! UPS has fallen considerably in quality. Just recently, the Postal Service kept delivering mail to our neighbors who go to Florida for two months in late Winter. They have to call USPS numerous times before the forwarding request takes effect. But then they requested us to package it all up and send it UPS second day and it ended taking TWO WEEKS to get to them! At least a rep from UPS kept in touch with me about the status but couldn't explain the why for the mess up.

Also, just recently I ordered some stuff from Moss Motors for my TR6 and since I don't need it right now I clicked free shipping. When I got the shipped notice it shows that it's been picked up from Moss, but by USPS! And it has sat in Petersburg, Virginia, for six days...

This, in its entirety, is exactly the OPPOSITE experience I had the time I had to call FedEx to find a package.

After a phone call from a Walmart big-shot to a FedEx big-shot, a
FedEx Courier hand delivered the package today.

btw, FedEx customer service is a 3rd world clusterfck!

I've had my first two bad FedEx experiences over the last year, but I still use them. Better than the competition, imo. One example was rather ridiculous: they delivered a package to some random address in the city in which I sent it, rather than 1500 miles away
