System Preferences / Classic
Uncheck "Start Classic when you login" Having it checked forces the disk image to automount at login so that the System Folder on it will be available. If you ever wish to go back and have it start when you login, you'll need to mount the image yourself and then checkmark it.

It was already unchecked. Classic isn't starting up when I login. When I tried to unmount it in the Finder, it said it couldn't because a process was running. I checked Activity Monitor, but nothing looked like anything from Classic. So I started it, then stopped it, and then it let me unmount it. But it came back when I restarted. I guess I need to check Activity Monitor before and after to see what's running.

How about system preferences > accounts > login items and see if it is listed there.

Try what Dennis said, if that doesn't work I would try zapping the pram.
