They took Quark off the old G4 and installed it on the new Intel iMac, with Quark's phone assistance, all legitimate. So of course all the Quark files on the G4 don't know what they are any more. I emailed one of the files to the iMac and downloaded it, because we need to make rush changes to a rush print job that we had sent to the printer as a pdf. Quark does not recognize the original Quark file that we made the pdf from.
If I try to open it from within Quark, the file is greyed out. If I use Get Info and try to select an application from within there, Quark is greyed out. If I try to drag and drop it onto the Quark icon nothing happens. I have tried those same 3 things using InDesign CS2, nothing.
In spite of my requests, the people involved (none of these are my computer) did NOT move the last two weeks of work onto a back up, nor onto the new iMac, before taking Quark off. I am now concerned that everything anyone did in Quark for the last 2 weeks (maybe half a dozen jobs) are gone forever!
Can I make changes to the pdf if I have Acrobat Professional? I have it but I've never used it, unless you count merging two pdf files into one as "using it".
