word and background pictures
#1
I want to add a background picture to a page in Microsoft word v.x and it creates a page where the picture I used is tiled several times on the page. I want the picture to appear one time, centered on the page. I am fine with their being a white border around the picture. I am then going to have text and graphics on top of the background picture. I have tried many ways and can't just get it. HELP?

It sounds like you want to add a watermark - to do this, add the picture to the header or footer element (it can be placed anywhere on the page).

See Word's help for more info...

Hope this helps!

I tried the header footer and it was a nightmare.

Can you try it in Pages and then save as a word Doc?

I tried it--worked fine for me.

Adding it to the header or footer allows for the watermark to appear on all pages automatically. If that's not an issue you can simply insert a picture file, position it wherever you want and then format it to reduce its opacity and position it behind the text so it doesn't interfere with the overlayed text.

See this Word file as an example (or use it by replacing the picture and text): http://stingme.com/background-picture.doc
