I think the Bethel Bakery cookies look good.

And if Romney had any brains he would have talked about treasured neighborhood businesses and how important it is to support them and keep them going.

I do worry that stories like this are a part of the dumbing down of American media. The last few elections have been sketched out in a very vague manner by journalists if you ask me: "Dole old, Clinton young", "Gore boring, Bush fun", "Kerry rich and elitist" (sound familiar?), Bush rich but fun", and "McCain nuts, Obama exciting". I guess the theme this year is "Romney rich and elitist, Obama rich but 'real' ".

I think it's because photos and sound bites are driving the election process now. Nobody sits down and reads long newspaper or magazine articles about the candidates. Nobody these days is even aware that the party platform is written at the nominating convention. We're so bored by the process that gavel-to-gavel coverage is gone, and the convention itself is staged as a series of media-savvy moments.

So, while I find Romney's remarks to be incredibly rude, I am kind of sad that in an entire week of campaigning this is what is being pushed out to the voters by the media.

One more piece of evidence that Romney's handlers suck.
