Will Apple exchange an unopened iPad 3 for an iPad 4?

why would Apple exchange it without a receipt?

Lots of people get things as gifts without a receipt. I can tell them where I got it, if they want to know.

I wouldn't count on it, if you can't show that YOU bought it. But that's an experience-free opinion. Smile

All I know is the iPad 3 I got from my work as a gift could only be exchanged at the University computer store, because that is where it was purchased. No other Apple Store would take it.

This is a national company, so I am assuming they bought them directly from Apple, but I need to check and see if they can give me any more info.

One thing that has help make Apple so successful is quality and service - they have refunded items for me that have been opened, no receipt, etc. 100%, no problems at all! Not even Apple products. My bet is on Apple doing just what you need, even a money refund if that's what you want. Let us know how it goes...

According to 9TO5Mac...

The answer is Yes

Apple will exchange 3rd gen iPads purchased within the past 30 days for a shiny new 4th gen

According to that 9to5mac article, it is not an Apple policy, but a store policy, so YMMV.

Apple should make that a company policy, IMO.

So... what is the difference between the iPad 3 and the iPad 4? Faster and the new dock connector?

Faster processor, faster WiFi, and new connector. Wouldn't be a tragedy to have to keep the 3, but would seem like a no brainier to get the new one, if possible.

Hmmm...thought they were the same.

Well, that looks promising. I need to talk to the guy that is offering it and see if he can give me any info about when and where these were purchased. I really wasn't expecting a new iPad announcement today, other than the mini, so this caught me off guard.
