if the starch is fried in vegatable oil, and not lard, I don't think it is an issue, unless it drastically contributes to your obesity.
I believe all their stuff is fried in hydrogenated oils, which are are just as bad as lard, whether or not they are vegetable oils.
Several Frito-Lay branded chips use non-hydrogenated corn oil, and might actually be a beneficial, heart healthy snack.
